Kaffe Fassett Collective...

This is where you can find all things Kaffe Fassett Collective. Headed by Kaffe Fassett himself, the Collective also incorporates the designs of Philip Jacobs, & Brandon Mably.

Kaffe Fassett is a leading textiles designer & practitioner of contemporary crafts. He has a loyal following of patchworkers, knitters and embroiderers all over the world. A Californian by birth, he moved to the UK in 1964 where through a series of collaborations, he built his name & reputation. He became a leading light in the knitwear revival of the 80s. Further explorations led him to needlepoint, mosaics, rug-making, tapestries, fabric design, theatre design & quilting. He has exhibited in countries including Denmark, Sweden, Australia, Canada, the USA & Iceland. Kaffe has written many books on colour and design in craftwork. Known & loved by quiltmakers across the world, he inspires people to work with colour in an instinctive way.

p Jacobs has been designing fabric & wallpaper for a worldwide market since 1976. His work has been illustrated in numerous books & magazines, & was used for the decoration of part of the White House during the Clinton administration. His inspiration is drawn from his vast archive of 18th, 19th & 20th century fabrics, wallpapers, paintings & brocades.

With no formal education in design, Brandon Mably made a radical career change from cooking to knitting in the late 1980's after a chance meeting with the world-famous Kaffe Fassett. From the moment he entered Kaffe’s studio, Brandon realised the creative potential of knitwear designs & soon became Kaffe's apprentice. For many years Brandon organised the running of the studio, where Kaffe trained him to knit, needlepoint, hook rag rugs, & grout mosaics. An inspiring teacher, he began travelling the world with Kaffe doing workshops. Brandon has learned one thing over the years - that most people have buried in them a sense of colour & design. It is helping his students discover that design sensibility that continues to inspire and motivate his work.
